I have a 96 f150 4x4 reg cab lwb and i am planning on lifting it 4". Will i need to lenghten any of the driveshafts? Will this lift heigt be half decent for most off road obstacles? Also what lift company should i go with skyjacker or superlift?
Thanks for any replys.
Skyjacker is just going to be more expensive, so I would personally go with Superlift.
I dont think you need to lengthen your driveshafts, but get a second and third opinion.
4" is a good height to clear 35's on your truck, but I would not run anything larger due to your axles (D44 front and either 8" or 9" rear). 35" tires are good for jumping, and decent for mudding. Nothing beats a 49" IROK or cut 44" boggers in the mud (thats DOT approved), but a 35" bogger or 35" IROK will come close enough on lightweight vehicles (like yours). It just depends on the tire's tread pattern that you put on there.
No, you will not need to lengthen the driveshafts. Not even for a six incher. I had the exact same truck, and I had a Trailmaster 4" kit. IMHO, that is ideal. You're high enough to not get in too much trouble, and low enough that your girlfriend won't be complaining all the time. In most cases, I went where I wanted to, without much trouble. You will NOT be able to clear 35's with a 4" kit. Depending on what size tire/wheel combination you use, fender and/or bumper trimming will be required to run 35's. (or of course a body lift) A 33" tire is great for most off-roading. I ran a radial mud tire (BFG) and was completely satasfied with performance. I took my truck out once a week fourbyin' too.
As far as either brand, they're both equally good companies. Personally, I think Superlift makes a better TTB lift.
