i hear a lot about pluging the egr valve what does it do and will i notice and is it good for the truck will it affect anything??

1986 ford f-150 300i6 soon to have a clifford double 4 barrel intake manifold and the split 3 inch headerto my semi stacks out of the bed. i know it seems a little over board but i am a kid and every one in my town has rangers and f150s with v8s i want to haul *** with a i6 and show them whats up
I wouldn't plug it. It will usually cause the engine to ping at light throttle. The egr really shouldn't affect full throttle horsepower, since it drops out when you mash the throttle anyway. You may improve part throttle response if you put a different carb on when you take it off, but if you leave the original carb on, it will probably start pinging without the egr.
