my 67' is a long wheel base and with my built 302 it has the power to roast the tire's but not keep it on the ground, theres a lot of wheel hop. i've found some universal traction bars, but im not so sure about them. i cant find bars that are made specifically for my truck. are the universal bars a good choice or not?
Most "slapper bars" are made for car application(where spring is on bottom). Most times it will take some fabb'n to make them fit a truck(where axle is below spring). I know there have been people that have made them work.
I read from someone that took another of the "helper" springs(that is at bottom of pack) and used it to make a slapper bar. Slip it up towards front(of spring pack), drill a hole to mount a snubber. It might take some ingenuity, but I think that is possible.
If you have heard of Cal-Trac's, that would be a good choice too. It too would take some work to fit, but would work very well. I know a couple guys on here that have done it. The big thing would be removing the front spring eye bushing and replacing with aluminum spacer(which is how Cal-tracs pivot).

Lakewood makes a spring clamp for about $15.00 each. If you clamp the three leaves together in front of the axle on each side and leave the rear free it will end wheel hop.
The ones Lakewood has are very heavy duty. I think the bolt diameter is 7/16" and the plates are 1/8" or better. I locked them down has hard as I could and they don't bow. I have had them almost a year with a highly modified 302, T-10 4 speed and a 4:10 to 1 posi. They haven't moved and the wheels don't hop at all. The wheel hop was so bad before that it tore the original spring clamps off the right side.
