Bouncing '00 Ranger
Another thing I've noticed is when the heat or AC is on there is a click in the engine like something is kicking on, and when I'm in motion I can feel a loss of power for a brief second. No clue what this is.
Finally, with gas prices so high I've been using the low grade gas and the engine dings and pings pretty badly at times. If i use the Mid grade gas its not so bad but I read somewhere that the Rangers are supposed to take the low grade. How can I stop this as well?
PS> Are the instructions for removing the bezel the same for the 98&up trucks as the pre-98 trucks?
The click and loss of power with the heat and a/c is just the compressor (for the A/C) engaging and disengaging. Perfectly normal. If you set the ***** so that the air only comes out on the floor, or only the front vents, the compressor won't engage. Should save a slight bit of gas too.
As for the engine pinging, it's also common with the 3.0L. Mid-grade will probably fix it, but it's more of a sidestep to fixing it. Again, read some of the sticky posts at the top of the forum, as this has been covered many times also

Any finally, the bezel (stereo I assume) has been the same from 95-current.
Good luck and WELCOME TO FTE!!! This site is full of great info and knowledgeable people, take advantage of it
