Shifter removal Question.
I'm planning on swaping the Cab on my 79 F250 4 speed 4x4. A friend told me the shifter is easy to remove, in order to change the cab. Can anyone tell me how it's done? How about the transfer case shifter?

If I remember right you remove the shifter boot from inside the cab and unbolt the shifter cover from the top. I don't recall if you have to remove the tranny cover or not, and of course you'll have to deal with the carpet etc so you can get at it.

If the tranny is a T-18(iron top) the bell will unscrew and pull the shifter out. If it is a NP-435(aluminum top) you push down and turn about a quarter turn and pull the shifter out. Make sure the tranny is in neutral when you pull the shifter out,it makes it ALOT easier to put back in.
