hub troubles

hub troubles

tonite when i went to lock in 4-wheel drive left hub turned and locked right hub turned and turned and turned would not lock in 4-wheel drive not working has anyone replaced hubs and how much are they how hard to replace and do you need to replace the one thats not working or both thanks

put a pair of warn's in there an you will never have to worry about it again they run about $150 they are pretty easy to put in take a couple hours to do.

stockers run around $500 from the dealer. I just put Warn premiums in my truck and they are awesome. Look online for prices but I believe $150 is right on.

I would also agree with using aftermarket hubs. Just make sure that you figure out what the problem is before you drive it because changing wheel bearings is no fun. I spent the weekend working on mine and the race is known for welding onto the spindle and sure enough it did.

I put a set of WARN premiums in my F250 early this month. I had the auto-locking hubs. It is relatively simple to replace the hubs IF you have the right tools. It takes a special socket to remove the old spindle nut and another special socket to install the new spindle nut. That cost me several trips to various auto parts stores. A torque wrench is also important.
