Transmission fluid capacity?
Hello, I have an '02 Ranger Edge automatic. I recently had the transmission fluid changed at 30,000 miles, and lately I've noticed a leak around the pan (it never leaves any fluid in the driveway, but becomes noticable at highway speeds when fluid hits the cat and causes smoke). I tightened the bolts around the pan but it didn't help. I figure it's a bad pan gasket. So my question is, once I drop the pan and replace the gasket, how much fluid should I add to just fill the case? I've heard before it's around 4 qts, but I'm not totally sure. Thanks.

The best way to add the required fluid is to measure the amount drained, then add about 90%, warm things up and check the dipstick, add more as required. Make sure you use the fluid recommended by Ford.
