I have a 1972 f-100 with a 302 in it. I have installed an edelbrock performer 289 intake and 650cfm carb on it, and like them both. But you can't use the stock transmission kickdown rod on this setup, and I am really missing the transmission being in the right gear when I stomp it. Is there a bracket that I can use the stock rod with, or can I rig an electronic kickdown?
Mine is a 600 holley and it has the lever for the kickdown on it.I made the mistake once of just buying a carb without making sure of the application and found out about the kickdown afterwards. You need the carb with the kickdown lever for a Ford and everything will hook up right.
Edelbrock has a THROTTLE LEVER ADAPTER part number 1483 but they refer to a kick-down cable not a rod like our trucks have. It says it is for 1968 and later automatics except AOD.
yes there is a a kick down bracket I wish I could remember the number it might be the 1483 like said above. You also need the throttle relocation bracket. I just put a eldelbrock carb on my bronco a month ago and needed both. and any ford auto needs it if you use a edelbrock. Holly dosnt need on because the acount for it. I think is because holly does alot of the ford stock carbs so they are more of a ford carb. where edelbrock is more of a chevy carb. I got mine from schucks and they new what I was talking about as far as the kick down bracket but I had to ask for the throttle relocator.
not to sure the 1491 is to relocate it over a few inches so you can use the kick down . the kick down bracket ads a few inches to the linkage so the throttel needs to be moves over. It just sucks that holly take this in to account and eldelbrock dosnt but they gett you for another $40.00 bucks for the two brackets. what type pf throttle
the #1483 got the kickdown to work but it interferes with the throttle. So, should I get a new throttle connector (from the pedal to the carb), or should I convert it to cable or get a new cable pedal assembly?
I was trying to fix my throttle when i noticed that the entire pedal mount was broke, so i went to the junkyard and got a pedal and linkage off of a late 70's or early 80's model and it worked perfectly without interference because it was bent a little differently.
Thanks for all the help with the brackets

Thats what i was going to suggest is going to a salvage yard, most of these guys know the tricks for this type of stuff, i know another way it could have been done, you would need fine strong cable a drill and some eye bolt ends and messure, but i could fabricate that at my house i know....Janet
