I own a 72 F-100 in which the plate says it weighs 3700lbs
My 82 F-100 Flareside puts the weight at 4400lbs.I've been from one end of this truck to the other.Compared to my 72,the glass is thinner,so is the sheetmetal. The beams are stamped not forged, the interior is predominatly plastic, where the 72 it is virtually all metal.I just don't see an extra 700 lbs anywhere!Even with the A/C.Has anyone ever put their truck on some scales.Like I said just curious,as we all know weight loss more horsepower.
What you're probably seeing is the GVWR, gross vehicle weight rating, not the actual weight of each truck empty. The GVWR is the maximum the truck can weigh loaded with gas, cargo, people, etc.
Your 82' should only weigh around 3600lbs (mine does and its stock-i weighed it on dot approved scales a.k.a. weigh scale at the local grain elevator). These trucks are not heavy trucks and with a 400hp engine they should get going pretty fast in the 1/4 mile.
