Muffler Q's

I read a reply (from Quadzilla) in an earlier Thread stating the the mufflers on 94.5-97 PSD's are a straight through design... Is this in fact true?

So on my 96PSD there is no need to change mufflers until I upgrade to a 4 or 5 inch system.. I plan on installing a 3" downpipe and gutting the soot trap..

Thanks,
Pat

I'll try not to be offended because you're doubting me...
The muffler is indeed a straight through design. You can always go look at the one on your truck to verify this. If you're going to replace the downpipe, and remove/gut the cat, you're good to go from a restriction standpoint. However, if you're going to add a chip or tuner, you'll find that a 4" system will help keep the EGT's down.
I put down some decent power, and run the stock muffler, though my system expands to 5" once it gets past the muffler. I did this for the deeper sound, and "Oh my God!!" comments, more than EGT's.
