i am building a 351w for my 68'. if anyone has any advice about what i will nead in the conversion from a 360 FE to a 351W that would be great. FYI am running BB, PS, A/C. and swithing from 3 speed floor to C6 on the column. thanks.
You may want to look for a 302 radiator as well. I know the outlets (hose size) on the rad are smaller than the ones on a FE, and since no 351W was offered in these trucks, check it against the 302 sizes.
that is all good stuff. i will look out for it all. the engine was last in a early 40 something F100. maybe the mounts are already what i need. i now know that I have a radiator issue because my Fe has a low pass hose...good advice all...if there is anymore please post thanks.
My brother and I are doing the same 351W conversion on his 67'. The only diferences is that we are not running power steering, AC and we will be using a floor shifter for the C6. We are using some small block towers out of a 70's moded F100 (Small block 302 style was not offered until 70'). We are currently a week or so away from intalling the motor as we are working on the wiring for the electric fan, fuel pump and MSD 6A as well as straigthening out other debacles. We have installed the towers and they seem, by all measurements to work (will send a post after we install the motor). As for the radiator, we bought a new DP1433 3 Row from Radiator Depot in Dallas, TX for $150.00. We will have to drill holes, but it fits in the radiator channel.
Also, The engine that we are using came out of a 80ish model PU. We have some large bracket plates, as well as Alternator brackets that we took off of the motor and will not use. Not sure if the 390FE brackets and plates will work, however, if you are interested in the brackets that came off of our engine, let me know.
