Rear Frame Dimensions
What is the outside to outside dimensions of the rear frame of a Ford Expedition?
The reason I am asking this is because I am in need of a receiver tow hitch for my 1981 Jeep J20 3/4 ton pickup truck.
All the hitch manufacturers have stopped building them for J-Series Trucks.
I have been looking for a hitch on another vehicle that would be close to what I am needing.
I would then modify this 'close' hitch to fit my truck.
I saw a late model Ford Expedition the other day on the Interstate and I was thinking it might be 'close' to what I need.
The outside to outside dimensions of the rear frame on my J20 is 45 inches.
It looked as if the hitch on the Ford Expedition was long(wide).
Maybe that Ford hitch is near the 45" that I need.
I have a receiver tow hitch from a 1979 F-250, the overall length(width) was only 37.5".
Maybe some here could guide me to another Ford Product that has a wide frame that I could use it's hitch for my J20.
