I would think with 10 psi you do need a BOV to prevent excessive compressor surge. I don't know as much about turbos and carbs as I do about turbos and fuel injection. I know on my truck, since I have a draw through MAF I have to plumb my BOV back into my intake before the MAF to keep the A/F right. If you are running a blow through carb though, just mount the BOV between the turbo and the carb and you should be just fine. If its a draw through carb system then i'm not real sure but i'm pretty sure you need to recirculate just like I do.

There are several schools of thought on this.

Blow-off valves can serve two purposes...

First, you can use one to relieve pressure pre-throttle for situations when you're under boost, then snap the throttle closed. This prevents pressure build up within the turbo thus giving it some protections from the resistance the blocked pressure will cause. This can also protect your engine from overboost conditions.

You need to adapt the BOV to fit into the intake line, typically with a "T" fitting of some kind either purchased or fabricated.

Second, you can use it on the intake, to relieve pressure post-throttle, so the engine doesn't suddenly run lean when you snap the throttle closed, which your TPS sensor will lean things out. This placement also protects your engine from overboost conditions.

Installing these on an intake is fairly simple, find a flat area on the intake, bore mounting holes, and install. If there isn't a flat surface, grind one if the intake is thick enough, or weld on additional material to build it up, deck it flat, then mount the BOV on that.

On my last twin turbo project, even at redline, I wasn't producing enough boost to damage the engine, so I skipped the BOV thing entirely. Saved a lot of fabrication time and expense.
