Oxygen Sensor Changed and Check Engine Light returns
I had an oxygen sensor (bank 1 sensor 1) changed in Feb 2004. Check Engine light came on again in late December for (bank 1 sensor 2). I had that one changed this month. The light went off but then came back same day. Had it checked at autozone and came back with a PO141 code which I believe is the one I just had changed (bank 1 sensor 2). I purchased both of the sensors from autozone and had a mechanic put them in. The last one is still under the 90 day warranty. What should I do next? Have the mechanic switch two of them to see if the problem follows the sensor? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

P0141 indicates a fault in the heater circuit of bank 1 sensor 2.
It is likely that there is an open circuit in the wiring/supply or there is a short circuit in there.
Swapping the two downstream sensors will confirm whether the problem stays at that location (wiring fault) or is a defective sensor.
Otherwise, your mechanic could just follow the troubleshooting steps in the service (PCED) manual and identify the fault that way so it can be repaired.
There is also a possibility that a faulty PCM has triggered the code.
I had the same problem. I replaced all my 02 sensors and the light still came back. I then reset the computer and It has come on once in a yr. I reset it again and no more problems. Just make sure you get a good reset on your computer........ Leave it disconnected for a good 25 min to 1/2 hr.
i had a very similar problem accompanied by rough idle. code checker said two of the O2 sensors were bad. turns out it was a $27 plastic vacuum pipe with a crack in it. this caused the fouling of the sensors and subsequent code. replaced it and have not had a problem since.
