Hello all,
87 Bronco II
35/12.50 Pro-Comp Tires
3" Suspension lift front
2" suspension lift rear
2" body lift
Duff Classic Traction Bar
I am currentlly upgrading my front end from a Dana 28 with 3.45 gearing to a dana 35 with stock 3.73 gearing from a 92 Ranger. Also I am putting 4.56 gears in my rear end with my stock 7.5 rear axle. Is there going to be a seriuos problem with light 4 wheeling with the difference in gears between the front and rear?
Ok you say I cant. Does that mean the truck won't run with different ratios? Or will it work just fine in 2 WD? It's just a temp fix until I get the cash for the 4.56 in front. Its my daily driver so I need it to run.
the truck will run for about two minutes like that then after that you'll need to find another d35 to swap in place since you've destroyed the inside including axle shafts etc...if it's your daily driver i would rather wait to find some 4.56 for the d35 if you don't want to keep wasting money. Monty
Thanks for the information. I appreciate all your help. I guess I will have to go with a different gear ratio so I can afford both upgrades all at once. 3.73 is the bare minimum for 35 inch tires, so I will look into 4.10 just in case I go to a larger tire size later.

It will work just fine in 2WD with different ratios. But the minute you put it into 4WD, something will break. If you know you can do it without putting it into 4WD, you'll be ok. I would consider leaving the front driveshaft off while you have the different ratios in place.
