My third post about this problem.....I have 95' F-150 302...My truck the other mornin started fine but 3 or 4 secs later it sounded like the RPM's dropped and my truck died. It did that twice...Also the battery guage dipped and the check engine light flashed as it sounded like the RPM's dropped....I changed the fuel filter and plugs already...It was also sluggish off the line the other day...It seemed like it wasn't revin up all the way till about 10 to 15 secs later..then it would finally get up and go...please help....I wanna beat the imports still ;)!!!
You might have a fuel pump going bad. Check to make sure that you hear the pump turn on and off when you turn your key on. if you don't hear it take a rubber mallet and thump the fuel tank a couple of times. You might have a short in the wiring for the fuel pump.
just a suggestion.

I would pull the codes. It takes the most fuel pressure once the motor is running. If you had a weak pump, I would expect it to not want to start, but run ok once you got it there.
The check engine light is a big clue - you have a sensor out of whack.
try cleaning the IAC. its really easy to access and its just to 10mm bolts. clean it with carb cleaner. takes 10 mins and basically no frustration. its worth a shot. dont break it tho its not cheap.
I realize this is going to sound wierd. But our shop truck did the exact samething. It has I-6, but would start and die first thing in the morning. It also lost alot of power. The Ford dealer diagnosed it as a bad EGR. They replaced the EGR Valve and positioning sensor. Now the truck runs great. I never would have thought an EGR valve could do that.
yeah i've had that mentioned to me about the EGR i was lookin into that too....there not all that expensive either...but will try some cheaper remedies first...thanks
I just removed the egr valve in my 87. I made removed the carb. and took the plate off that the egr valve was attached to. then knocked of the egr and undid the two bolts that held it on.... put a plate inbetween the old castings and there you go. the egr just recycles exhaust (warm air) back into the engine to heat the carburator up. I think she runs better now too. The heck of it, is that I need to rebuild the carburator now.
