EGR valve?
Hi,
I have a 300 CI six in an F series PU and when the carb recently flooded badly, and after a minor ball peen session I opted to replace the unit as it was pretty old anyways, to my great dismay the new carb floods just exactly like the old one, is there anything that can cause flooding like this besides the obvious float or needle valve failure? I dont understand how a new carb can do this unless by a total fluke my new carb has a poorly adjusted float or bad valve? arent remans all tweaked and ready to go? Carter 1bbl.
Thanks for any suggestions,
RonM
There is the rare occasion too, that there is something wrong with the fuel pump and it is putting out too much pressure.
As it turns out the magician that sold me this new carb pointed to a vacuum line port on the float bowl and insisted that "this is where the fuel goes" in spite of my objections that "it just doesnt look like a fuel type connector" so anyways I figured that he must know this carb better than me, (this reman unit is slightly different and apparently works with more vehicles) So I retrieved the threaded inlet, congratulated the parts store staff for their excellent technical assistance, correctly routed the fuel line and voi'la the truck runs perfectly, I use a pro fuel filter btw which goes down to some real small microns so I couldnt believe it was contamination, not that fast anyways. I sure love that 300 six man its such a strong engine and, I remain a Ford man.
