I read in Truck Trend this past month that Toyota is looking to produce a true full size pickup. (Bigger than a Tundra Double Cab?) This pickup will compete w/ 3/4 and 1 ton vehicles.
There goals w/ the turbo diesel powerplant are simple: 390HP 700TQ
I got pretty upset after reading this, especially after my dad said he was gonna buy one. Models should debuit 06' or 07'
Toyota and nissan will continue to take more and more of the large pickup sales. It is just upsetting that the baddest thing on the road has officially been put in check. My dad always breaks my chops too...he also says he is goining to get an 05 PSD SB EC 2wd and blow my doors in. Just fun and games.
The 6.0 still blows the doors off the big full size American truck competition. I wouldn't worry about it. Just prepare to load the Predator at 65HP or 100HP.
It is just like the Dallas Cowboys saying "wait 'till next year!"
The Tundra was supposed to be 300hp on release it was 245. It took 5yrs to get to 292. I work at a Toyota dealership and can tell you its coming. Reps have alredy come to inspect our racks and stall sizes. The service manager was using my truck as a test truck. You guys remember the tundra was supposed to be called a T-150 and Ford stopped that, If you parked them side by side you can see why. The diesel 3/4 ton will be the same way. Toyota has had diesels beffore. Corollas and small trucks. They were junk. Frequently changed rocker arms. When they give me some more info I'll post it for you guys.
Not me! but keep in mind that every T-100, Titan and Tundra is a lost sale for the Big 3. They won't outsell Ford, but it will affect sales. It is happening already. Ford stock is way down and it is my belief that the Tundra and Titan have something to do w/ it (not to mention all the nice cars they make).
If its anything like their other releases it will have less power than the F250, A plain interior and a $50-60k price tag. This is not fact, just my opinion.

Anyone have any more info?
Hey, trucks is where it's at right now.
Can you blame Toyota and Nissan?
I'm interested in the best overall truck.
Right now it's the Ford.
If Toyota takes over, you bet Ford, GM and Dodge will answer.
I was reading another website and read where Toyota may use Aisin transmissions behind this new engine!
I personally think that the big three truck producers can more than handle the competition. With the newly rumored 6.4-L for the Ford Super Duty, and the new 6.7-L Cummins for the Dodge Ram. I think that we the consumers are going to be the ones who will benefit!!
I dont know about the toyota diesels but there other trucks are bullet proof, and that leads me to believe that the diesel would be a good one, they sell tons of them over seas.If nothing else it might make the big 3 wake up and start building quality again. You can be sure they will sell alot of trucks they have proven there products are good and people trust them. funny story my son has a friend who is a design engineer and he was telling my son when the japs. spec there parts they say how they want it and they want the best price they can get but dont cut corners on quality, and the big 3 say they want the best price period. You all have heard the old addage about the weakest link, I believe that is why we see all these failures in american products. It sure is a shame they learned it all from us. and now it has went full circle are products are not as good as theres.
