Changing gear oils

Someone before us used the wrong oil in the transfer case, so it looked like a black sludge. We did several flushes with aftermarket oil until it came out clean and then switched to a synthetic, Redline ATF. It's a Mercon V synthetic oil, so it meets all the original specs. My mechanic said we'll likely never need to change it and just check it every 60K miles.
The diffs all looked fine, so we didn't change them. Inspect in 30K or 60K for those.
