aerostar tranny problems.
Hi there folks, I have a strange problem with my 1991 4.0 ext van. On cold mornings or if the van has sat for a few hours the tranny makes a really strange noise before it will shift into 3rd or 4th and takes for ever to shift, the noise is like a kind of ahrrrr, not matalic but sort of like something is thumbing the underside of the van and the other strange thing is it does not do it again untill the van has sat again for a few hours, it changes OK when it is hot but I have noticed a vibration from around the dog house cover and the floor up front. Any ideas before I start to pull this tranny from the van, could it be one of the solenoids or maybe the modulater?. I don't really have much experiance with auto trannys but I could pull it apart myself if I have too.
