how big on tires

how big on tires
i have very little experiance with tires, but i was wondering how big of tires can i put on my stock 04 xlt 4x4 reg cab. What will the consequenses be if any and what is the range of price im looking at. Will bigger tires make the truck look like it sits higher.
my current tire size is 235 75r 17
