could anybody tell me why Powerstrokes at idle add gas, i thought that this was only when the engine was cold and did that to worm up faster. But mine does that even after 10 hour trip if put it in park wait two minutes and it starts.
I hope it's not adding gas to your engine, bad things could happen.
Do you mean the the idle speeds up? Does it do it after it sits for a while, or immediately after you stop?
If you let a diesel idle for too long, the engine will drop below operating temperature and then it could start wet stacking. I've never noticed it on my truck, but maybe the computer is smart enough to recognize that and prevent it. Or I'm way off base and somebody else that knows what you're talking about will straighten me out.
if the outside air temp is cold enough it goes into a high-idle to keep it from wet-stacking. am new to this diesel stuff just what ive comprehended on this giant imformitive website..
