i have a 1985 ford F150 with a 351W, i have a vacuum leak somewhere and was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a schematic of the vacuum lines or even be able to tell me which ones are the most critical to check. also my carb needs to be adjusted and i was wondering if someone could give me some tips.
There is normally a diagram of the vacuum lines on your core support. If it is unreadable, a chilton's manual has a lot of diagrams that would do the trick.
take some carb spray or starting fluid give it a shot down the carb seewhat the engine does put every thing back together and start spraying around all the vacum fittings throttle shafts ect if he engine does the same thing it did when you gave it the shot down the carb you have found your vacum leak
i did spray some carb cleaner in it and even put a little bit of gas down in it, everytime i drop it into gear or sit a stop sign when its cold out it tries to die and i have to 2 foot it to try and keep it going.

I had a massive vacuum leak near the egr. When we replaced the carb, we didn't catch it at first so the "new" used carb ran like crap. If you spray the carb cleaner around the outside of the carb and around the intake manifold, if you have a leak it will be pretty obvious.
The double pedal action gets even tougher when you factor in a beast of a 4 spd manual....
