Hey, all! I'm new here and this is my first post. I've had a bunch of Ford trucks, but I'm no expert and couldn't really call myself an enthusiast, but I've got a 1970 F100, 2wd with a 302. The auto trans (is that a C5?) was a little funky when I bought it. It took a few seconds to engage when you put it in reverse and shifted a little weird in drive here and there. After I changed the trans fluid and filter, it actually shifted worse. I had maybe a little extra fluid in there, so I pumped it out, but it was still the same. I changed the modulator valve thingy, and still no change. I can play with the gas to get it to shift sort of normal and drive at highway speeds no problem, but it wants to rev way too high in first, and after it warms up, when it finally drops into reverse, it wants to shudder as I gas it in reverse. Does anyone think there's a chance to save it by having some adjustments made, or should I resign myself to needing a new or rebuilt tranny? Will any C5 mate up to my '70 Ford 302? If not, what year range and/or other trannies will?
