Shorty OR Long
Im looking for new exhaust for my 68 F100 w/ 390 and I was wondering what is the difference between Shorty or Full length headers, besides the obvious length. is there a horsepower gain with a certain one? Any knowledge would be helpfull

I agree with Ken on that one..... The shorty headers that have been the craze lately are just "lighter" and slightly better flowing than the oem cast manifolds. The only advantage that they have is the ability to work with the oem front pipe(s). The long tube header has better scavenging characteristics which helps pull the exhaust gases from the combustion chamber and they tend to have a better balanced flow rates from one cylinder to the next compared to the spaghetti looking shorty headers.
