Lift kit

I have a 81 ford f-150 2wd. truck cab and box.
I would like to put it on my 85 ford f-150 4x4.
Has anyone do this swap before. If so any information would be greatly appreciated. I would like to have this be a clean cab and box swap.
Thanks, Mickey

If they are the same wheel base it should work. I have a 81 4x4 and removed the old stepside and installed a 92 flareside bed. Bolted right up. As far as I could find out, all of the frames are the same through the 80's.
good luck

The ca and bed will fit on the frame as long as the two frames have the same wheelbase. For example an extra cab and shortbed will not fit on a regular cab long bed frame due to the fact that I belive the wheelbase fo the extra cab was 2 inchs bigger. You may need new cab and body mounts when you do the swap if you still have the original rubber ones or you could run into problems. Make sure to discounect everything or its going to be like trying to pick up a house. Wear gloves too. Those ford cabs have sharp edges!

i did that. but my swap was not so simple, ford frames for those years are identicle 2wd and 4wd you'll have no problem. mine was on an 86 f-150 it was 2wd and i wanted a 4x4 with a 4inch suspension lift. i bought a 4x4 truck for cheap that had a bad body so i could just swap the bods but after i got it home and really checked it out i noticed the frame was shot in some places so **** on that. i took the front ends out and swapped em and i changed the rear leafs and brackets so they were the 3" like the 4x4, and just put the tranny and transfer case up in my truck using the 4x4's tranny crossmember and that was it. i wish i could only just have swapped the bodies. yours will be easy. it all matches up
