(I've been reading your posts, bud). Seriously, it's a really tall gear that Ford used a lot of in our model trucks to keep their "CAFE" gas mileage numbers up. I used to know what CAFE stood for but basically it's the federally mandated gas mileage average for manufacturers. It's your normal, average, every day half ton rear end. Don't feel bad, my 85 4x4 is only slightly better at 3.08's. They're good on gas mileage.....lousy on hole shots.
