plugs carboning up
i just rebuilt my 429 thunderjet and like at 700 miles i hade a bad miss so i started pulling plugs and 5 were bad black carbon.So i put accell wires on it and it ran great for 1 day and it started running bad again.So i puuled plugs again and same prob.So i returned wires and put another new set on and cleaned up plugs again ran great and it happened again .I have new everything but ditributer but it has a new cap rotot and pickup coil. I did notice that the bottom pc of 2 pc distributer seems like it has movement,is this right ?Do u think i might need a new distributer ? If so what kind will work,of corse motor did have points and this 1 dont but i have every elec. part on my truck is new.I no 460 is the same motor but does the yr have a factor ? Thx Slick

I do no carb has issues its a holly w/the 2 back barrales not workin.So i bought a stock carb on ebay came from a 69 429 thunderjet lol ill change that out 2 c if it helps.I do run 92-94 octane cause i found out about the hi compresion lol.thx ill change carb tomarow.Pretty dam cold out here in mich. lol

well i changed carbs and it started but sounds like im not hitt on all cylinders doh.And i got rid of the accell wires and put a new stock set of wires on ,still no good doh.Illhave carb checked next eh ?Also distributer will any ford 1 work or do i need 1 for 429 only?I no 429 is same as 460,My 429 is a 69 429 thunderjet.Do i need a certin yr or size distributer?or any 1 for a ford ?Im guessin any 429 or 460 but not sure.Thx
