Too Secure?

A few weeks ago, my '95 ranger's factory security system started going off on it's own. I haven't been anywhere close to the button, and I don't understand. Anyone know? Also, I've still got the issue of my dome light staying on for a while after I leave the truck. Any advice for that too?

yeah, i had the same problem on my 97 ranger, 98 f150, 2002 f150 and now my 2002 ranger. they had to fix the 97 ranger when i had it 3 times under warranty. i guess that the light switch that is in the latch sticks closed and frys itself. this is what triggers the alarm too. that happened to my 98 when i had it. same deal. all i did to fix it was remove the door panel and clean the bleep out of the switch with contact cleaner. never went bad again. dont pull the fuse, it is also the wiper fuse. just remove the bulb. all i have now is the 02 ranger and will let the dealer make one good attempt to fix it then i will fix it myself. last time they told me that the new parts are a defective design and will never be able to fix it. i think they were trying to cover up lack of knowledge. sorry to ramble on, just my experience/2cents.

just to add to that, when you clean it out push it in and out many times until it feels completely loose and trustworthy
