Remove the caliper, caliper bracket. Then back off the parking brakes with the wheel adjuster in the rear of the rotor plate. There will be a little rubber seal that is oval shaped on the backer plate, the adjuster is behind this. The rotor should then just slide right off. In some cases after you have the caliper and bracket off, the rotor will just slide right off. Be prepared.... the calpier bracket is extremely tight! Use impact if possible.
as i left work today i noticed a little pull but i thought it was just snow so i kept going 3 minutes later i felt a vibration and a sound as if i was dragging some type of metal'ish object.. stopped looked all over and nothing... started to move and the same thing happend.... something inside the rotor broke and thats whats grinding.....I need to take the rotor off to clear everything out.. im guessing that WAS the e-brake assembly right? ohh did i say that the e-barke peddle was half way down......... im guessing I would have to buy the whole thing right? can you guys reply and give me some input..
thanks
Tony, the E-brake is set up just like a drum brake setup on rear drum brakes. You can buy individual parts for this. There are 2 shoes and an adjustment wheel( tensioner) and a few other pieces in there. It definately sounds like you got a problem! Either way, the rotor removal will be the same. Make sure you hang your caliper by a metal wire so it's not hanging by the hose.
WOW, I tryed everything after taking off the caliper. wd-40 hit with hammer all over tryed for a good 3 hours and had no luck removing that rotor.. i just wanted to avoid the mechanic all together.. any one alse have any advice?
thanks your help is all i have.
Get a BIGGER hammer! You might need to break the rotor to get it off. If you got broken peices in the E-brake assembly then you're definately gonna have a time! If you can't break it in half with a hammer try a torch!

Exactly. Pick up a new one at your parts store and then stop by Home Depot, Lowes, etc. and buy a sledge. They will come off but will be warped or broken by the time your done.
