Pro Comp Shocks/steering Stabilizer

My Truck, 2001 F150 4x4 Screw, Has Been Getting A Little Shimmy Through The Steering Wheel. It Has New 33" Bfg A/t's That Have Been Balanced And The Front End Has Been Aligned. I Want To Add A Single Steering Stabilizer To Possibly Cut Out The Shimmy And The Bumpsteer. Is The Pro Comp Brand Good? I've Used Rancho In The Past, But The Pro Comp Is A Little More Affordable Right Now. Also, The Front Suspension Is Cramped In Under The Skid Plate. Is The Stabilizer Going To Be An Easy Straight Forward Install? The 01' Is Far More Complicated Looking That My Old 93' F250. Any Help Always Appreciated.

I have the ProComps on all 4 corners of my 67 4x4 and the steering stabilizer. They are great for the price. Rides smooth and reacts to the driving conditions. I couldn't tell you about the install. Good luck.

I run procomps....no complaints here.

I did have to modify the stabilizer to make it work. The directions said anything over 4" of lift, you're pretty much on your own. It was still pretty simple.

Yeah, I had to make my own brackets. The ones they sent me were for a F250. My bad.

i would absolutely not get the steering stabilizers with only 33's. all they do is mask a real problem and you shouldn't need them for a small tire like that. i run 39" IROK's and I don't need them. new shocks i can understand and I haven't really had a preference as I have found the cheapo Gabriels from autozone did just as good as the $50 shocks that came with my lift from Skyjacker.

A new steering stabilizer will only mask your problem. Do your driveshafts need balancing? Output shafts bent on t-case and/or tranny?

It's Not A Shake That You Can Feel, But You Can See It In The Wheel When You Stare At It. I'm Talking Minute Movement Like 1/4" Left And Right. Just Enough To Irritate Me. Bumpsteer Is There When Your Turning. All In 2wd. It Just Received A New Pitman Arm, Tires, Balance, And Alignment.

Bumpsteer when you are turning? Bumpsteer should happen when you are driving straight and one side of the front axle has a change in height for some reason....like a bump. Make sure that any track bars that you have are tight on both ends. Also, what was the caster angle for both front tires? I have seen bumpsteer caused by a difference in caster from one side to the other.

Since you have had all of that other work done to it and the vibration is still there, I'm inclined to say it is one of your driveshafts that is out of balance. Pull the front DS and drive it around, see if that takes care of your problem. Also, check your pinion seals...if one leaks, that DS is the likely culprit.
