Need some axle advice
Hi, I am going to put together a 77-79 F-250 for pulling and mud running. I was wondering what axles to put on it. I was thinking of Dana 60 front and back, but I don't know much about axles so that's why I am coming to you guys. Also I was wondering what the main difference between a 60 and a 44. Thanks!

For max strength, I would run a kingpin open knuckle high pinion Dana 60 from an F350 in the front with 35 spline outters and a Dana 70 from an F350 in the rear, both hooked up to 1350 series shafts. Hook a built 460 or diesel up to a C6 or an NP435 4-speed, an NP203 doubler, and an NP205 t-case and that would be about as bullet proof a drivetrain as one could get without using parts from commercial or military vehicles.
For really big mud tires, you don't want the Dana 44 in the front.
