What the heck does a "Tow Package" Involve??
My 86 302EFI has what the previous owner referred to as a factory tow package. Now aside from the nice receiver hitch and light plug on the back, what else is involved. I put a glass pack on last week, and can now hear the engine working away, and it sounds like the cam haas a nice little lope to it. It also has terrific power now, after getting the fuel filter and cats taken care of. Thanks to all you who helped me thru all that. We took it up our local killer highway hill yesterday (7%grade for 6miles) in 106 degree weather and it pulled it in 4th (top) gear at 70 with only 1/2 throttle, and I still had lots of power to pass other rigs going up! I couldn't believe it!! Was extremely impressed with it. Also, the temp never fully got up to the "R" in normal doing it! Does anyone know what all these packages add to the stock truck? Would like to know what's under the hood. thanks!·Handling Package- includes:
-front/rear stabilizer bars
-HD front springs
-HD front and rear shock absorbers
-quad front and HD rear shock absorbers (F-150 regular cab 4x4)
·71 amp/hr. 535 cca battery
·bright low-mount swingaway mirrors (regular cab styleside)
·trailer wiring harness (7-wire)
·HD turn signal flasher
·super engine cooling (includes aux. transmission oil cooler with automatic transmissions)
·engine oil cooler and electric fuel pump (7.5L V-8)
Sounds to me like you've got a strong running truck and the super cooling is doing its job.
