Truck 2000 F250 PwrStroke.
The last couple of days, when i turn the key on and wait for the light to go out, i have been hearing the fuel pump running(fuel pump mounted to the frame). I have never heard this before, Am i suppose to hear it, Does the pump just pre-prime, is it suppose to stay on while the key is just ON?
Anyone have any information?
What tempretures are you hearing the pump at? Sometimes if its cold the fuel may be a little gelled and the pump is trying to move it through the system.
If your fuel pump is getting louder, you probably should replace it. It's common for them to get louder before finally failing. Oh.... and your pump should be IN the tank.... the thing on the frame would be your filter. The pumps are a _itch to change.
Please explain, I know of the fuel filter on top of the Engine. The pump as i call it mounted on the frame has power wires going to it..Thats why assumed it was the pump. Course it may have a pump in the tank too , not sure. But im pretty sure its a pump on the frame :O)
Weather out side is around 30-40ish in the morning, i will make a note to listen this afternoon its in the 70ish temp range now..
Thanks for the replys. I sure hope its not going out, im sure its prolly $$$.
Hell yeah its exspensive, it just cost me 650.00 at a shop for a 99 psd frame mounted fuel pump installed which my extended warranty now says it wont cover.
