Well ya know how it is when need something, alot of the time with older vehicles its cheaper to buy a complete salvage yard 4X4 PU or lost in time, put out to pasture, forgot about, ect. Just before Christmas I bought a "78 F1504X4 PU no rust super body[$250]. The problem was the front differential had been gutted along with steering box tie rods and power steering pump. Last week I found and bought a '79 F150 4X4 motor missing but everything else needed was there.They backed out at the last minute. Today I found and bought a '78 F 150 4X4 super cab. The missing parts PU has coil springs and dual shocks on the front differential. Well the super cab PU has leaf springs.My guestion is what is the difference in the two front differentials? How much trouble am I going to get into swaping out the front diffs?

For one you already know the hoousing is different and will not swap into your truck with out alot of fab work. The gears are the same. The knuckles out will swap but I am unsure about the steering components. The steering box should be the same. Look up the parts at your local parts store to see if both trucks share the same part numbers.
