Fan Clutch Testing?
The first thing to do is look at it! Check to make sure that all the blades are intact and not cracked. Then look for any oil leakage in and around it. When engine is cold try to spin the fan. It should have a fair bit of resistance but not too much. Check it again when the engine is really hot. It then should spin fairly easily. And last grab a couple of opposite blades and move the fan from side to side, there should be no play in it at all. good luck.
If the fan spun easily it wouldn't have as much air drawing ability, as it would if it grabbed tighter(harder to spin) and spin the fan more visiously.

The other post made mention of WHEN the engine was cold it turn with some resistance > TRUE <
This part isn't.
But when the engine is HOT it should then turn FAIRLY EASY > WRONG <
When it's HOT :
It should be even Harder to turn because the fan clutch is attached to the fan pulley with the heated up fluid causing the clutch part GRABBING the clutch fan mounting flange and having tons of resistance.
That's all.
That's why people replace them when they've leaked and gone bad.
The are then ON all the time and un-neccessarily robbing the engine of horsepower.
Normally when you shut off a cool engine, the fan will keep on turning for a few seconds as opposed to a HOT engine the it will stop turning right away.
