got a ?

got a 2000 psd 4 wl dr no lift factory tires
my question is why does the truck shutter when in 4 wl dr and going throught
deep snow 18" it wont shutter if it going throught the snow fine but if the truck starts to slow down becuase of a packed snow drift and you give it some throttle to keep speed up it will shutter until you lift up on gas
my old 4 wl dr did the same thing any one now what is cuasing this and what can be done to prevent this

even though its not a truck, mu quad does this when going through deep snow and only deep snow....whats happening is that the tires are spinning on the snow and then all of a sudden grab traction (which is whats causing the shuddering) and since the tires are spinning so fast it seems like theres something wrong with it, but its just that your grabbing traction and loosing it quickly

well any 4 wheel drive truck will do that on dry pavement, but it very bad for the axles and whatnot

only in snow or mud it probably would do it in deep sand also i thought maybe thier was somting that can be done to stop this if your on ice with 18" of snow it shouldnt shutter the tires should just be spinning on ice
when this was happening i was maybe at 1/4 throttle it seem like asoon as the tires lost grip on the snow it would shutter i know it couldnt be the tires gripping becuase i was on a lake and under the snow is ice

It sounds like wheel hop or axle wrap. Get some traction bars.

i have heard traction bars will stiffen the ride. but that might be the old school bars. something i would also consider when getting a new set of bars.

It's just the tires and the variation of the amount of traction you are getting. With all the wheels spinning trying to grab, it'll grab then let go, grab then let go, making it feel like it's shuddering.

Yeah it's just the heavy truck battering through the deep stuff.
