4 wheel drive problems
This is Bull,Ford knows about this and needs to address it! !I don't want to hear just get a set a Warns, that's not what I paid for and if you going to offer shift on the fly it has to work, not just when it want's to,all the time,,My Grand Cherokee and Durango have never once had this problem.
Maybe Ford should put "Work's when it wants to" on the sticker next to the price you pay. This truck only has 3800 miles on it..
I love this truck but this issue needs to addressed before someone get's killed, you would think Ford would realize this and care enough to fix the problem and do a recall and eat it since it's there problem.I have a feeling I will hear more excuses for Ford here when instead every SuperDuty owner with shift on the fly should be beating down Ford's down.
Now here's a question,I got out and manually locked the hubs but when I turn 4x4 switch off should they unlock or do I have to get out and unlock them. This could be a real pain on patching roads,so how do you handle that to guarentee 4x4 will engage again.
Sorry for steaming but this is lame, real lame ,no excuses.
The ESOF is not the best system - that's for sure. I won't carry on about what needs to be done to change the system, but rather advice that has worked for me and many others: Engage it regularly.
Also, if you manually lock the hubs you must always manually unlock them.
Glad that you and your children weren't hurt or someone else.
They surely would have been if you had done that.
Would have scared the living daylight out of me too. There are some safety issues out there that I am surprised have not been resolved. I hope that deaths are not the final catalyst to making something happen.
Just an FYI: I have had this system on my last three trucks without issue. However, except for getting to my back pasture after a good rain and sometimes going somewhere I shouldn't while hunting, I don't have much occasion to kick the front mules in.
Glad you are all safe and hope you remain that way. Good luck.
