I have a 74 FE390 (bored .030) and a C6 sitting on my driveway. At the other end of that driveway is an 81 F150 2WD with a 300 6 cyl and a 4 speed manual trans. Im thinking I can combine elements I have described. Has anyone here done this? i know the 81 had an option of a 460 so Im figuring that the 390 will fit, Im just wondering what kind of things I need to watch out for. Obviously, I need a shifter for the trans and the motor mounts from the old truck.
In short, what bumps along the road to powerland am I going to encounter?
you are going to need a rear sump pan and pickup tube. dont know if fe manifolds will clear the frame or not. motor stands should work as is. you can get a column and shift linkage out of an 80-86 truck with a c6 trans. probably oughta get the drive shaft too.
