I am thinking about takin my 2000 150 through the snow figure between 1-2 ft. From snow plow and drifts. I am runnig with 250# in the bed and the biggest Good Year Wrangler Rt/S allowed from the factory.
I've heard from a lot of ppl it can do it but im still a lil uncertain. Thnx
Thats wat im figurin im gonna do, i gotta get to some wood in the front lawn so i gotta take out the snow banks cuz the Deere wont do it. then have a lil fun in the front lawn.
Bring a high lift jack and a couple of pieces of 1" plywood (3x3), stack them on top of each other and lift yourself out of ruts. I use to bring a few pieces of p.t. 2x12s to stick under tires.
We used to have the 2X12 like you said Rebocardo, but the day when we brought home my '86 Pickup on a flat truck, my dad decided to take the flat truck up the front lawn after a heavy rain. Needless to say we split the boards we used to have b/c the truck got stuck, even with all 3 axles locked and engauged.
And i did exactly what you said Offroader i waited about 30 mins for my friend to come home. Then we went out and ripped around.
As for the truck, no problems in 4 wheel Drive it was able to climb over the 3 ft snow piles and i had no problem with the 12+ inches even in 2 wheel drive. And I must say it was a good learning experience.

Sounds a little heavier then a 1/2 ton truck with three axles. You should have screwed the boards together, 2 screws in the top, middle, and bottom of the boards. If you carry four boards and screw three of them together you can support almost anything.
What is handy is if you put 2x2 p.t. ballisters across the width of the board. That way you can use it as a ramp so the tires don't slide, or flip it over so the ballisters act like claws in the mud. It helps prevent the board from flying out from the back of your truck when you spin the tires, I hate when that happens.
Basically, drive the truck over the board and put a block behind and in front of the tire. A deflated tire will wrap right around the ballister and help pull the truck out.
