Heated Seats

My heated seat on the drivers side quit working. I swapped the controllers and it still does not work. I have been told that it is probably the element which I understand requires replacing the seat covering. Has anyone done this? How hard is it to do?

I've done it, pretty simple you'll need some hog rings to put the seat cover back on. Once you take a look at the seat it be fairly obvious how it comes apart and what you will need to do it.Takes about an hour per seat.

It Is A Pretty Simple To Replace The Element In The Seat. Make Sure You Have The Hog Ring Pliers Otherwise It Is A Little Difficult.

Where did you get the replacement element and how much did it cost?

Miker, you luck out. in 2000 and '01, the element was molded right into the seat cushion. That means replacing the cushion and element at about $150. With an '02, you should be able to buy the element alone at about $50 and replace it yourself.

With winter just days away here I wanted to fix my driver's side heated seat on my 2000 EX. What's involved with replacing the cushion?

This is not correct. In my '00 the element is seperate from the cushion/cover and could be replaced by itself.

I had a problem on mine where the wire connecting the seat element to the back element had broken. I re-soldered it and everything worked great again.

Just do a little investigative work before spending $$. A little time and and a voltmeter can tell you a lot.

Thanks for the tip, that sounds incouraging. I'll put a new battery in the volt meter and check it out.

I couldn't find any broken wires. Came across two that were bent back 180 degrees. Fixed that but still no heat. How can you tell if the heating element is seperate? I couldn't see anything that looked like a heating element.
