Borg Warner 4405 rebuild?
Now, I haven't gotten into it yet, but I'm sure that the bearing / gear / chain kits available are going to be necessary, however, I have a sneeking suspicion that there's a clutch hidden inside the case as well (it's on a 97 explorer with auto AWD as well as the ability to switch to 4 high... hence my suspicion of a clutch.... as well as the fact that it calls for Mercon as the lube.) Anyone out there ever tear down one of these, and where can I get the covetted info on performing a rebuild? This vehicle has suffered a series of unfortunate events, starting in the traction-lok rearend (which is now functioning properly), so now I'm working my way up the drivetrain. Any and all info is greatly appreciated, starting with any exploded views of the 4405 so I can see what I'm getting myself into. Thanx again, Tom.
