Torque Converter??????

Torque Converter??????
I was driveng normal. then it sounded like I ran over something. I was doing 55 and it felt like the brakes were being applied. The RPMs would drop and it would slow down to 40 MPH. As soon as it would drop below 40 the RPM would raise to normal and it would seen like the brakes were off. If I speed up to above 40 it will do the same thing. RPM will drop feels like brakes are being applied and it slows to about 35 then all seems fine until it hits 40 again. The truck runs fine under 40 MPH. when its cold it all happens at 35 until it warms up and starts doing it at 40. Is this the torque converter or is the tranny coing bad? PLEASE HELP!!(calgone take me away!!) If you can tell me what the problem is I will be your best friend forever!
