alright, my 85 Bronco with the 5.8HO and C6 has started making a very strange squeaking noise lately. It sounds like something is rotating to cause the squeak, but the truck also does it sometimes right when i start it up and when it's idling sitting still. It does it at complete random times, but more frequently when I hit the gas, brakes, or steer suddenly. It sounds like it is coming under me, and not from the engine compartment I've checked all the belts and they are plenty tight, so i am completely stumped about this. any suggestions would be very helpful..

Do You still have the smog pump on it? A/C or no? I had the tensioner pully sieze on my 1990 F150 and it squealed like a stuck pig. I had a similar problem with that truck though and it turned out to be the power steering pump. I flushed the power steering system and it went away and never returned. That would explain why it does it while turning and under acceleration also. Good luck and hopefully this will help.
the way I chase noises is to get a piece of heater hose or radiator hose that is about 12" long put it to my ear and use it as a stethascope. This allows you to isolate the sound easily.
Thanks for the tip. I've never tried that one. I actually have a mechanics stethiscope and find it very very useful, but you see, this noise only happens at random times and i can never get it to squeak when i want it too.
