Call me dumb but ????
What's the difference in rear ends 3.73, 4.10 etc ?? What does all that mean anyway ? And which is good for what and why ?Does it mean one turns 3,73 rpm and the other 4.10 or what ?
BTW.....you all are going to miss my dumb questions, I'm going back OTR drivin.
Leavin Friday..

Example 3.73 means 3.73 to one, for every 3.73 turns of the driveshaft, the wheel makes one complete revolution.
The higher number, the lower the ratio. A 4.10 rear end is lower geared than a 3.73 because the driveshaft has to make .37 more revolutions to make one complete revolution of the wheel.
Lower ratio gears (4.10) keep engine rpm's higher for more power for heavy vehicles and or vehicles pulling heavy loads or oversized tires which because of their greater circumference raise the vehicles final gear ratio
Higher ratio gears (3.73) keep engine rpm's lower for better fuel economy and higher top speeds.
