I cannot see how. My remote starter, I could pull all the wires out and the dealers would never know it was there if it was a problem.

According to the remote start people that sell them, NO. They say you are not cutting or splicing any of the factory wiring, but merely jumping off of them. All of the factory wiring remains. But the true fact of the matter is, if you take your truck back to a dealer for any kind of drivability problem they will always blame any aftermarket things you have put on your truck. I,ve had remote starts on my cars for years and have installed a few. My advice is buy a good one, ask as many people as you can for refrences of install shops. And even ask your dealer who they would recommend. See what their response is and you can judge what they will say after you have one. Good luck.

My remote starter was not installed at the dealership. They shipped the work off elsewhere. I paid the dealer for installation. I would hope that if it was a warranty concern the dealer would not have them installed (BTW I did not ask if it would be a warrantee issue).

If the starter is installed by a certified technicion then it won't void the warranty.

Exactly the reason I had mine done at the dealer...
so there could not be any finger pointing !!!

you wouldn't expect your dealer to fix an improper install by a third party that caused problems, would you ?

If memory serves me the Magnusen-Moss act prevents a warranty being voided by aftermarket parts..UNLESS THAT PART caused a factory's part failure. Lots of dealers try to upsell these starters and tell you that you will void your warranty...but most dealers outsource the work to the same people you coudl use!

This law was started basically (again..if memory is good here) so that you could use Fram, Wix, etc, filters. Unless the factory supplies these parts for free, you are able to use aftermarket. Now, let's say the oil filter you were using burst and that caused engine failure...you get the idea.

In the end, it would have to be proven that the remote start caused another component to fail...and that component could be then not covered. They certainly cannot void the entire warranty over it.

Actually, it's the other way around....
if Ford says Not Covered, YOU have to prove otherwise !!!!

but u are right, it should only void the coverage for the failed part caused by the aftermarket thingy....
