Exclamation Gauges

Hey folks,
Simple post today!!! I was just wonderin' what brand of gauges I should get? I saw a set w/ a blue back light to them (looked pretty cool!). Also is a 35psi boost gauge enough? Oh yea 'bout forgot, I want good ones but don't want to break the bank either! Thanks!!!

Fireman, Auto meter has guages in about 5 different styles and price ranges. I have the sport series and I like them. I think 35 boost is enough. You run from 10-25 most of the time and with a 60 max guage, you wouldn't see the guage move much most of the time.

I have a set of VDO gauges. So far so good, match the dash very closely. Although I don't like how the tranny temp gauge says "Oil temp". Plus they only cost me $300 with a pillar pod.
You can't go wrong with companies like Autometer or Isspro. Check out motorhaven.com. If you become a supporter of FTE you can get a decent discount through them.

I have the Isspro gauges, and they match the factory ones pretty close. No problems so far ... just my .02

Just put in autometer phantom guages. I have a 6 speed so i only got pyrometer and boost. 35 psi for boost will be fine, even if you do plan to add a tuner or do a few mods. Got my guages from shopdiesel.com, i know they have one set(pyro, boost, tranny) of gauges with a 3 place guage pod for 280 dollars. I beleive its the Autometer Ultralite guage package. You have the choices of green or red bulb covers that come with the set.

K, I have looked through several threads now and can't find what I am looking for. Where are you guys with the boost gauges getting your boost signal from? In other words, where are you attaching the air line?

I'd say go autometer, about the best when it comes to racing aps, and they seem pretty good with tech service.

On the older 94-97 trucks you put a T in the Map line i believe it is? i forget what the line is called. On the newer trucks you can drill a hole and tap it in the one intake pipe.

There is a 1/4" line that comes up from the motor over toward the heater core area of your fire wall of the truck, as mentioned here already you can splice a "T" in there for a tap point, or you can drill and tap the pipe where this 1/4" line comes from. This line is the feed for the boost reading for the map sensor. I "T" off mine and its been fine there for 10 years now. I did have a lot of needle bounce once when the first boost guage went south on me, but Issopro replaced it at no cost to me and I have never had another problem since.
