I know its because of the cold weather but i would like to fix whatever is messing up..any suggestions would be helpful. thanks guys...
The most likely culprit is a bad IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. This device, as the name implies, regulates airflow into the engine at idle. They can become clogged with carbon and stick in the closed position, either briefly or permanently.
Try this: Next time the engine acts in the manner you describe, try starting the engine with the throttle pressed partway down. If the engine starts and continues to run with the throttle depressed, but stumbles or dies when the throttle is released, it's probably the IAC.
Check out the tech articles section of this site for info on DIY IAC replacement.
