would it hurt????

would it hurt the engine to use mobil 1 synthetic 5w-40 year round since the 5w-40 is thinner than the 15-40?

I use in all year round. I live in NY(Long Island), and have made several trips to Fla, all with Mobil1. I've used Mobil1 since my first oil change, and now have 24K on my 04

I would say no it wouldn't hurt because you still have the 40 weight in the 5W-40. You are just getting a better range out of that oil than the 15W-40.
