Anyone kow if the ford dealer carries wheel studs for a D60?
My lug nuts came loose and wore holes the size of your thumb in my brand new chrome rims and wore the studs almost in half. I was lucky enough to notice before my wheel flew off and wrecked my new paint and my axle was throwin sparks on the highway.
My brake drum holes were slightly egg shaped from the studs, will this make a difference since it bolts up tight anyway?
I would rather get them from somewhere other than the Ford stealership since they add about 40% to the price just because its in a Ford package.
i would get new hubs to. any time i come across anything other than round holes i put a new hub and new studs in, i may just be me but i think it is a huge saftey factor. the studs wont stick out straight and that will cause problems. but that is all i can help you with, best of luck.
Should be able to get them aftermarket with an application. Just take a sample to match them up. You might also double check that the lug nuts you're using are compatible with the type of wheels you have.
Why would I get new hubs? This was on the rear axle and the only messed up holes besides the rim holes were the slightly worn brake drums. The hubs are in perfect condition.
i think why 165 misunderstood ihad the same misforturne myself. i drove over 700 miles and thougt my wheel bearing was going until i got home . i replaced my studs nuts and my rims ,they were real bad .but like you i made it home!
